Healthy Quality of Life for Everyone!
I will defend and actively work for the rights of all people. Oppressive legislation and policies that are divisive, that target LGBTQ communities, women, ethnic differences, mixed residency households, people of color and that are culturally blind are unacceptable.
Individuals and families need affordable housing, access to healthy food, transportation, childcare, safe environments, stability and opportunity for second chances. I will support all individuals and families.
Our population is aging. The Governor's Office on Aging estimates that 1 in 4 people in Arizona will be over the age of 60 in 2020. I will support infrastructure and services for “aging in place” , and safety assurances for our vulnerable populations in state licensed facilities.
The health of our community is dependent on more than access to healthcare, it depends on all factors that affect where we live, learn, earn, and play. Factors such as income & wages, education, affordable housing, affordable quality healthcare & healthy food, childcare & eldercare, the environment, etc. all impact our lives. I will make decisions through the lens of healthy communities & health equity.
Our democracy and the ability to govern is fundamental to positive change. I will protect our voting rights, ability to put forward ballot initiatives and your voice at the state assembly.
Everyone deserves the right to quality public school education. Learning is the foundation of a thriving community and is the cornerstone of a successful economy. I will work to fully fund public education at all level and support well-trained teachers with fair wages and classroom resources. I will fight to invest in school infrastructures and technology while making a pathway to secondary education.
Our workforce deserves fair wages, labor protections, time off without negative consequences when sick, respect in the workplace, and equality in the workplace. I will stand up for our workers to ensure they are protected.
Our environment is essential to health. For those with asthma or respiratory conditions, air quality is everything. With climate change, we have new and emerging health concerns related to heat, moisture, vector borne, allergens and more. I will work with our environmental groups to ensure clean air programs are funded and actions are taken to protect our planet.
Over 600,000 veterans are in Arizona and with troops being pulled out and moved we will see more to come. Veterans have service related needs and are an at risk group for suicide. I will work for our Veteran community and advocates for services, suicide prevention, support for families, and honoring our service members and veterans.
